Last month, VECINA CEO Lindsay Gray traveled to Washington, D.C. to speak at the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Annual Asylum Conference. Gray was the discussion leader on a panel entitled “Advocacy in a Post-Matter of A-B- World.

In 2018, the Attorney General published Matter of A-B-, which attempts to significantly limit asylum claims based on domestic violence. Gray and her co-panelists gave tips on how to handle certain aspects of asylum cases after A-B-, including how to address persecution by non-state actors, discretion, and nexus.

Other panels included subjects such as crafting particular social groups, representing clients in immigration court, and current hot topics in immigration law.
