We are thrilled to share that Karen Cepeda Diaz has joined VECINA’s ReUnite team as a contract Project Manager.

Karen was born in Colombia, and she has called the United States, Brazil, and Argentina home. She worked as project coordinator for nearly a decade at a safety office that provided emergency support to journalists and their families in danger. Karen has spearheaded human rights campaigns and safety training programs for press workers in conflict zones throughout Latin America and the Caribbean. She has also worked in international human rights organizations that promote social justice. She is passionate about learning new languages and the fight to overcome language barriers for immigrants. She is a volunteer interpreter for organizations that assist refugees and new asylees in the US. Additionally, Karen manages a public policy consulting firm in Argentina.

Karen has already been acting as a volunteer with ReUnite as an interpreter, and we even had a sponsor call our hotline back to tell us what a joy she was to work with! We’re excited that she can jump right in.

Welcome Karen! We are so happy to have you.

If you’d like to send Karen a hello, a word of encouragement, or an inquiry about ReUnite, you can find her at karen@vecina.org.
